Greener grass...?

Team USA went 5-1 in Amsterdam!
 PLATE WINNERS!
It was a really great tournament in finding our footing in our defense and putting in some really awesome scores. In tournament play, you can afford to lose a game (sometimes even 2), but only on day 1. Unfortunately, we lost our one game on day 2 and were bumped out of Cup contention early on. We ended up takin
g home the Plate-5th place. It was great to get some hardware and to celebrate a great tournament. The games are all online, so check them out if you missed the live action! Amsterdam 7s Games

We left Amsterdam and headed back to Cali for the last 5 weeks of training before World Cup! This first week is largely recovery, so we can get back at it hard next week. Bring it!

London wrap-up

So, my original London wrap up post was deleted from my phone--yuck. Now you're all stuck with the week later, much condensed version ;)

We ended the tournament in 4th place after a loss to Australia in the semi-final match. We didn't play out a 3/4 game, but the tournament ranking was based on points. It was great to have a tournament before the IRB series tournament finale. We had some kinks to work out, so having the next week to work on things before the Amsterdam tournament has been great!

AMSTERDAM!!!
Tomorrow we play the first of the 2 day tournament. You can watch LIVE here: http://goo.gl/53DKZ

Our match schedule for day 1 is:
vs Brazil: 10:22 / 4:22 EST / 1:22 PST
vs Spain: 13:03 / 7:03 EST / 4:03 PST
vs Australia: 15:28 / 9:28 EST / 6:28 PST

Check out 7 BEST tries of the women's series so far. GO USA!

London: Day 1 & 2

Welcome to London!

After going through Customs, being laughed at for having short hair and looking like a boy, and inhaling deep breaths of perfume lining the exit, we made it out into the fresh, cigarette smoke filled air of London! :)

We're staying at the Marriott. It's a nice hotel with soft beds, free wi-fi and a sweet gym/pool area. We've had a few practices, gym sessions and meetings over these two days. Today we took a short shopping trip to a sports store-fancy, I know ;)

I've slept surprisingly well on the plane and last night, so I'm hoping the trend continues tonight. My body feels pretty loose and my mind feels very prepared. There's another day until we play, so I'm keeping the nerves a safe distance away. Cheers to another day in Great Britain!

ALL London 7s matches will be streamed live here: www.rfu.com/womens7slive

British Airways!

Apparently British Airways is high class flying..I've never been on it, but Nath has been pretty excited about it for awhile, so I have high hopes. Most of us are sitting together in one block-sorry for the people around us!

We've been at the airport for 3 hours now, so everyone is a bit antsy. I have two books, two puzzle games and headphones for my phone that doesn't have sound-yay! I should be set! It's go time...cheers from Vanathaboovix!!

Sleepytime!

Tomorrow (well technically today) we travel to London! We'll be in London for a little less than a week before we head to Amsterdam for the last leg of the World Series!  The London tournament will give us some great matches and Amsterdam will certainly prove as challenging, if not more, than the other stops in the series-the level of competition is crazy high (love it!)!

After a day of last minute shopping, packing and lounging I'm attempting to get some sleep before the long travel day--wish me luck!
